# Research Computing Resource Manager The Research Computing Resource Manager (RCRM) is a web-based tool that gives researchers visibility into their research computing resources. Through RCRM, you can view and manage the projects you own or belong to, monitor your storage usage and costs, control access to your storage, and manage billing for paid storage tiers. Key features include: - **Projects** — View the projects you own or are a member of, along with the storage and compute resources allocated to each - **Storage usage** — See your currently allocated storage, how much space you are using, and the associated cost - **Access management** — View and manage the list of users who have access to your storage - **Billing** — For researchers using storage beyond the free tier, assign one or more funding sources and allocate a percentage of the cost to each - **HPC cluster access** — Request a Tufts HPC cluster account to access compute resources ## Terminology Below are the definitions of some key terms you will see throughout the RCRM software, research computing documentation and policies. - **Project:** Name used to identify project. - **Project Key:** Unique, short name used to premenantly identify the project. Cannot be changed or reused once set. - **Group:** Security group assigned to this project. Based on project key for new projects. Legacy projects may show alternate group name. - **Resource:** Research computing resources available for your use. Such as storage or compute. - **Allocation:** AKA "Resource Allocation" . A mapping identifying a resource assigned to your project. - **Owner:** AKA "Project Owner" The person responsible for this project. - **Approver:** Delegate of the Owner who can act on their behalf within the project. - **Member:** Person with access to the resource allocated to this project. - **Cost Center** The DeptID and optional Proj/Grant ID that you would like your storage costs billed to. - **Quota** The amount of storage space currently assigned to you to use. This is the amount that storage charges are based on. - **No cost quota** A based allocation of storage available to Tufts Faculty that they can utilize before being charged for additional storage. Details about amounts and eligibility can be found at https://it.tufts.edu/research-data-storage-faq#eligibilityaccessallocations
